A typical tour when in Cuyo

San Rafael: The wine route. The first stop is the Yancanello building, where you visit its museum and olive plantations and get to know all about the elaboration process of olive oil. In the first winery you visit the premises with an expert and then you taste the products.
Later, at Finca Santa Herminia (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah), while walking the vineyards, you are told how they manage to maintain a special flavor. It ends with a technical explanation on flavor, smell and color.

Mendoza: Touring parks and museums. Lots of secrets hide in Mendoza's capital. For example, the "Basilica de San Francisco" (San Francisco Church) -today in ruins- was one of the few buildings that survived the 1861 earthquake.
To the north, in the "Museo del Area Fundacional" (Foundational Area Museum) you will find the latest archeological discoveries: documents and pictures of the old city and also the Ruins of the 1749 Mendoza's Cabildo.

San Juan: Riding in the Andes. In the center of the Calingasta valley, one kilometer from the town gas station, Carlos will be waiting, horses ready to ride on the "sierras" (hills). One excursion goes to Mirador del Colorado, among arums, brooms and grama grass, where you can enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of Cordillera, from the Aconcagua to the Olivares range.
And if the night is clear, you can join a horseback ride in which you'll look at and identify stars.

Rafting in San Juan River. Rafting is even possible in the middle of winter due to the not-too-cold waters of the San Juan river. Julio takes you to its banks, in Ullum, through mountain roads. After lowering the 6-person rafts and putting on special outfits with neoprene sleeves and cuffs, you travel a 12-kilometer stretch on level II-rafting waters, that is, for the family.

Big Diving Duck(Oxyura ferruginea) Diving is the great skill of this species, although they are also excellent flyers. They get their food from under water and they usually keep their tail straight up even under water. In Argentina, they inhabit areas near the Andes.

Trekking in Valle del Suyuque. Destinationn: Cascada del Peñon (Peñon Cascade). Departure point: a Monastery at the base of the hill. Upstream the Suyuque river, you walk among forests of pepper and carob trees.
The slopes are easy; the paths, almost empty. The water pools created by rivers and surrounded by green areas are ideal to rest and have a bite. There are also big natural balconies with incredible views of the valley. Activities at the cascade: rappel, and water games and ropes for the kids.

San Jorge ranch. Surrounded by prairies and hills, the cask is in the center of Valle del Durazno (Peach Valley).
Horseback riding is an excellent activity, specially if you join the one going to Los Vega stream and stay for a barbecue. You can also play golf or join different walks. The kids always have fun with the ducks, hens and rabbits.

Merlo: your chance to try paragliding. At Cerro Comechingones, even the kids go paragliding. The two-seat flights are piloted by experts. The sensation is incredible: the breeze on your face, the absolute silence.
They last 20 minutes and if you manage to go beyond the hill you can see the "Valle de Calamuchita". There are no age limits though the minimum weight is 35 kilograms.

Termas Las Tamarindas: Renewed energy. A few minutes away from San Luis city, this thermal complex -surrounded by countryside- is all you need to relax.
It features apartments with pools, yacuzzi and sauna baths where you can enjoy thermal waters in a private atmosphere. There is an outdoor pool and an indoor one with a cascade. There's a gym and massage and mud therapies are offered. For the kids there are flippers, table-tennis, pool and table games.
