There were two canooeist peoples, the ALAKALUF and the YAMANA or YAGHANES. They were closely related and both shared the same region. -The Alakaluf were on the West coast of Patagonia, where Chile is today, and on the islands between the Gulf of Penas and Brecknock Peninsula. -The Yamanas or Yaghanes were further South on the coast of Tierra del Fuego and the islands of Cape Horn.
