The northern town of Cafayate sits in the grape growing region of Salta. 1683 meters above sea level and in the southwest part of Salta, Cafayate's climate has low humidity and is very sunny - which makes it perfect for the growing of grapes and production of great wines. Besides great wines, all of Salta is known for its pottery, but Cafayate is particularly well known for its very large earthen jars.
