What to See When You Have Only.... Hours, days or limited time to see the sights of South America?
It would take months, even years, to properly tour a country. Given the limitations of time and finances that most travelers have, it's natural that getting the most out of your time is a high priority.
This article begins a series of features answering that question. Part of the information will come from me, your Guide, and part will come from travelers like yourself. In no particular order, we'll
start at the southernmost tip of South America and work our way north. I've had several requests from people whose cruise ships stop in Ushuaia who want to know what they should see in Tierra del Fuego.
So, if you are Cruising South America, with a stop in Tierra del Fuego, consider:
Penguin Rookery and Estancia Harberton: U$S 130 (6 hours)
Los Lobos Island, on the old "Barracuda" ship U$S 50 (3 hours)
Los Lobos Island on the new Catamaran U$S 70 (2 1/2 hours)
Penguin Rookery (stand alone): U$S 105 (4 hours) Note: Prices provided by Patagonia-Argentina.Com and are subject to change.
If you have longer than the average port-of-call, consider the above plus:
Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego (Tierra del Fuego National Park) with beautiful Lapataia Bay
El Tren del Fin del Mundo - steam train from Ushuaia to the national park
Cruises, such as Navigating along the Beagle Channel, or with tours from Victory Cruises who offer you this Virtual Tour of Tierra del Fuego.
