I am from Philadelphia. I have just been accepted to the Universidad de Buenos Aires to study Medicine. If I accept I will be starting the program in March 2007. I need to figure out where I am going to live and how I am going to afford to live there. In order to survive in Bs As for the entire time I am in medical school I am going to need to live somewhere downtown close to wherever my campus is (I've never been to Bs As) that is also cheap. Also, I think I will need to get a job while I am in school. Obviously I am a native english speaker; I also speak spanish. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa. and I have also spent some time studying at la Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and el Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey: Campus Guadalajara. I have professional work experience at Ford Motor Company and a major oilfield services company as an engineer. I have also worked as anything from a children’s art teacher to an audio/visual technician to a salesman (on a few occasions) to an Emergency Medical Technician. I am open to any advice anyone from Bs As may have. Any contacts at companies, contacts of Americans already teaching english, or contacts at organizations that I may possibly work at as an engineer would be great. If you know of any affordable housing options, people looking for housemates, or international students looking to get housing please let me know.

If anyone can help, here is Joshua resume. In about 2 weeks my brother-in-law will return from vacations and I will forward him your resume. Please email me privately as a reminder. The Facultad de Medicina building for UBA is centrally located (Paraguay and Ayacucho?) so you can live anywhere in Palermo. Perhaps, a cheaper option will be to live in Villa Crespo. Publish your monthly rental budget so that others may see what is what you have in mind. Here is a map of Buenos Aires

Actually, thats great to hear about being accepted to the UBA De Medicina, a good place to look for places of residences is of San Cristobal, in the areas of Rincon and Independencia or Pasco and Independencia...these streets both run into the UBA areas of study, that is all parts and is most cheap in comparison with Palermo...
