Hello There, This post is a little off topic since it is not strictly about Argentine destinations but I thought it the best place to ask... My wife & I are returning to BsAs for 6-weeks this summer & are thinking about taking in a couple of short side trips. One destination that we fancy is Paraguay for a few days. Can anyone offer advice on their experiences in Paraguay? Is it a fun destination? Is Asuncion the best destination to sample the culture, shopping, nightlife etc. or, are there others that we should consider? Also, can anyone advise approximate cost of return airfare BsAs - Paraguay & what we can expect to pay for mid-range accommodation? Travelling in January, would we need to book well in advance or, could we leave it until we arrive in BA late December & still expect to get seats? Any advice appreciated. Geoff Pearson |

Hi Geoff, if you are planning a trip to Paraguay research about the warning on 'fiebre amarilla' earlier this year. There is some information here and here. A roundtrip ticket BA - Asuncion - BA with argentine airlines would be usd $360 (may vary slightly). There are a couple of airline companies doing this route so it shouldn't be a problem buying tickets after you arrive. Asuncion is certainly a prime attraction in Paraguay. For shopping, many people recommend the tri-border area (Ciudad del Este) but there are some caveats here. Other than this, I am not very familiar with this area. |

Hi Roberta, Thank you for that. Do you have an up-to-date email address for Erna? I tried contacting her on my last visit but never received a reply as I believe that they were having email problems at the time. Also... what is the URL of her travel company. TIA Geoff Pearson |
