From http://www.travelsur.net/forum/messages/2/102.html My husband and I are interested in spending a month in Argentina and Uruguay (Jan 2006) and would like to split up our time in four areas. However, we enjoy renting a studio or apartment if possible so that we get to go food shopping, meet the neighbours and perhaps reduce costs. Is this possible in a) BA, b) Cordoba and c) Iguazu (pushing our luck here?). If so, where should we get advice about how to find, at what price, small apartments? Many thanks for your input. These pages are really interesting and useful. |

Welcome Noni! You can definitely rent an apartment for a short stay in Buenos Aires, say a week or two. I am not sure about the other destinations. In the case of Iguazu, we do not recommend more than 4 days stay being 3 nights the optimal amount of time. Even at 4 days it may not be worth going through all the trouble of trying to rent a place. I highly doubt there are *daily* rentals over there. I would suggest two things. A couple of members of this fora have specialized in real estate in Argentina-. Please look for Apartmentsba.com (here is his profile. Also, someone named Bob Frassinetti seems to have in-depth knowledge (profile). We can help you with your Buenos Aires stay for sure. We presently have a few passengers staying at a nice apartment in the Retiro area. You can contact Erna at erna@travelsur.net and ask her about pricing. But for the other destinations as well as for getting a better feel, it might be a good idea to contact the other members first. |

Hi, I am going to be in B.A. on Friday afternoon. Having a hard time finding a place to stay on short notice. Six of us in total are looking for a relatively nice place to stay. Anything like a hotel or apartment or even a big house in the city. Can you help? Thanks, Enzo |

Dear Enzo, unfortunately BA is packed. From where we are, we see no availability for the coming weeks... We would only work with 4 and 5 stars hotels and couldn't find spaces available for this weekend. |

Peter, My husband and I stayed at an apartment in Mendoza this past November. Although that apartment is probably too small for you, I seem to remember that he had a much larger place and his prices were quite reasonable. Let me know if you want the contact info and I can send it so you. Email me or send me a private message if you're interested. Laura |

I was a little worried about renting an apartment in Buenos Aires from an online site. But I am happy to report that the experience with bastay.com went well. My family and I (5 of us) found our place just a few blocks from Galerias del Pacifico Mall and it lived up to its billing. We were concerned because we had to pay cash for our week's stay and leave a one week deposit cash in dollars. We took the leap of faith and I'm happy to report that our deposit was returned to us as promised. I had read nightmare stories online of other sites where apartment owners kept the deposits. I would definitely rent an apartment online again. It's a lot cheaper than getting a hotel room in Buenos Aires if you're staying for a week. |

I recently stayed a couple of weeks in a very nice apartment right in the center of Recoleta. Very modern, 2 floors, cable internet, vonage phone, 24 hour security, etc. It's owned by an American who lives in BA. His website is www.argentinaconexion.com. You can call him on his vonage phone, his number is on his website. The cool thing is that he can accept credit cards for the reservation and rental deposit. This is an issue because many apartment owners insist on having you Western Union cash to them to secure their apartments. |
