Does anyone know if/what you have to pay when crossing from Argentina (Mendoza area) to Chile (Santiago)? We have been told it will cost $100 USD per person, but we have also been told if you take the bus you won't have to pay. We are only planning on being in Chile for christmas eve and christmas day. If the cost will be $400 for our family, we may need to change our plans. |

If you are a US citizen and flying into Santiago, you have to pay $100 US the first time you enter on a given passport. I've never done it by bus. |

Tha fee is only for fly-in's - no such fee on driving, bus, etc. Have fun! it is an awesome and beautiful trip through the highest series of peaks of the Andes. |
