I have been searching the web for international health insurance coverage during my stay in Buenos Aires for 26 days. Is there any recommendations on a company that is widely accepted in BA by hospitals and doctors just in case of an emergency. |

I think the best way to get that service is hiring with a global player such as Axa Assitstance, Europ Assitance or similar companies, in alliance with credit card companies. For example, you can get that service (I think they offer best hospitals and doctors in Argentina) in a combo with Visa. I do that everytime I travel. |

Davio, would you consider explaining this in more detail? You said by "hiring with a global player." Probably I am just missing what you are saying but if a person is vacationing here, they are not "hiring" with anyone, it seems to me. Or in my case, I work but for myself so I would not be "hiring" with anyone. I tried to get international insurance through a Swiss insurance company. They would insure me but only if I had an Argentina address, which I did not have, and still do not have. I dont care about health insurance. I follow a strict regime that has gotten me free from everything I had that I thought was age-related, including arthritis, which I no longer have (verified by x-rays so I am not kidding you). But Im not too impressed by the bus drivers down here so looking more for accident insurance. However, I think Saint reported somewhere that he gets good medical insurance for $50.00 a month. Who can complain about that premium? Thanks in advance for any information about this. Arial |

I think the insurance that Saint had mentioned was a long term health insurance policy. My concern was for a travel insurance during my stay of 26 days in BA. But, if anyone has additonal information that can be helpful for someone else wanting other than travel insurance all the better. |

As I told in a previous post, those companies can provide you the temporaly service of medical insurance, for short terms ince a day until two monthes in a row. I have Axa Assitance anually, in alliance with my Visa credit card, with annual renovation. It cost to me U$72 each year and i used it one time in Italy, two years ago, and it worked fine. |

Dario, Thanks again, I have read their web site and have requested additional information just for clarification before I purchase. I am pretty sure your advise not only help me but others on this forum. Michael |
