Hola, We are staying on Araoz & want to go to the Feria de Mataderos this weekend. First question - which is the best day to go, Saturday or Sunday or, does it make a difference? Second question - Which Subte line do we take? Can't find Mataderos on our city map. Can anyone offer brief directions? Third question - we have figured out the Subte... sort of! We are close to the Oritz station on D line & have used that a few times to get into the city centre. We have figured out that we sometimes have to walk between stations to switch lines but we haven't figured out which are the key stations. For example to change between A line & C line. Another question - Where do we go to get a ferry to Punta Del Este? And, where can we find a timetable? Yet another question - If we go to Punta Del Este for a day or two, can we use Argentina pesos? If we need Uruguayan money, what is the exchange rate? Any advice appreciated. Geoff Pearson | ||

Adding... You can buy tickets for the ferry in Puerto Madero at Buquebus offices. Here is the link And here is a map for the subways. The key stations where you can make most switches are 'diagonal norte(A)', '9 de julio(C)' and 'carlos pellegrini(B)'. I think I got it right but can't really remember. Caveat, the switches can be crowded and confusing the first time! | ||

roberto in buquebus there are problems,tomorrow I had to go to uruguay but due to the manifestation I had to cancel my trip. I hope that this problem is solved soon. | ||

Florencia & Roberto, Thank you very much. We are going to visit Puerto Madeira on Sunday so will check the situation then. I believe that some environmental demonstrators are trying to block passage to Uruguay; something to do with a new pulp mill. My Espaņol is a bit dodgy but I am learning by reading the newspaper! Is Subte C Linea the correct route to get to Feria de Mataderos? Geoff Pearson | ||

I have never heard of that feira but found a link that tells you how to get there as well as some more information: Feria de Mataderos Don't think subways get there. Best will be a cab. | ||

Can someone take a look at this website & tell me if it is saying what I think it is? http://www.feriademataderos.com.ar/www/fogon.htm My rudimentary Espaņol translation suggests that the feria does not resume until 20th January ie. it will not be on tomorrow... geoff if you are in palermo you can going by the subway line D to nueve de julio station and you should to do the combination in the same station with the line b (carlos pellegrini station to leandro alem) in leandro alem is the last station of the line B,then you have to walk 4 or 5 blocks to puerto madero. | ||
