On October 21, I will rent a 4x4 car from Trelew airport (around 10am) to go to Punta Tombo then back to Puerto Madryn or Puerto Piramides to stay overnight, next day go whale watching and Peninsula Valdes and then go back to Puerto Madryn, taking a flight the morning after on the 23rd from Trelew. 1) Can I do this in such short time period? 2) Is there a cheaper way and better way to do this since the 4x4 rental is very expensive (extra $ per kms per day once i hit 400km) 3) If I do this should I stay in Puerto Madryn or Puerto Piramides the first night? 4) Is it worth it to go to Punta Tombo during this time? Thanks |

This is just a general answer. Make your beach head Puerto Madryn and visit places from there. Punta Tombo is of course very worth. I think visiting the penguins, then hoping to see the whales and taking a tour through the Peninsula all in 2 days is not realistic. Most of the above are FULL day tours. The peninsula is very large and you may miss some of its attractions like the island of birds and such. Pebble roads may slow you down... But this is just a guess, not an expert opinion. To make this fit in such a short period of time you should hire a travel agent and buy a package and let someone else with expertise in the area do the driving. Then, you might be able to do peninsula in one day and Punta Tombo in another day while sleeping in Puerto Madryn. |

Can you suggest a travel agent that can put this package together for me? Is there a good chance to see Penguins at Peninsula Valdes or must I go to Punta Tombo to see them? Also, is there a good chance to see orcas at the time I am going (3rd week of October?) Thanks |
