I thought I would start a thread for Buenos Aires so as to stop posters posting on the Mar del Plata thread. You will get more responses here. With regard to the restaurant post, many tourists tend to head to the famous touristy restaurants in Buenos Aires which I feel are really over-priced. If you just walk around and pop into a local restaurant you will find the prices very good. I have spoken to many Americans who still find Argentina very good value. As I am from London, for me the prices are very good value. Where to stay. Most people that stay in Buenos Aires for more than a few days, normally stay in an apartment, but if you are looking for a hotel, then I would recommend www.carlosvia.com which is in a very good area called Abasto. Although it is a local neighbourhood, it is walking distance to all the main sights of Buenos Aires. There is a beautiful shopping mall, cinemas, loads of restaurants, buses and underground (subway). The owners and staff of the Carlosvia boutique hotel speak excellent English and I have stayed there many many times. At the moment I think the price for a double room with breakfast, free internet use and 24 hour security is around US$70 per night. I hope this information helps the posts on the Mar del Plata thread. Regards Michelle |
