Hello, I need your help if at all possible with the following questions. My partner and I are flying into Buenos Aires in two weeks and we have a rough itinerary put together. We plan to backpack the NorthWest of the country up to Iguazu falls and then travel onto Rio and our stay in South America is for 1 month in total. Is it possible to cover the following in 2.5 - 3 weeks? If not, what would you leave out? suggestions are greatly appreciated :-) Buenos Aires - Mendoza - Cordoba - Tucuman - Salta -Jujuy - Iguazu Falls. Secondly, we would really like to visit an Estancia while in Argentina for 2 days approx. What region is the best from where I have mentioned? We would like to be out with the cattle and quite active and as we are from Ireland the Greener the better :-) Thanks so much for your help, this site is fab |

Hello Nibbles06, Your alternative program for Buenos Aires to Iguazu (via Cordoba, Mendoza, Salta and Jujuy) is actually my favourite, personal trip in Argentina. You'll get to see the real authentic Argentina, it's roots, it's folklore and above all some amazing nature (desert, jungle, salt lakes, mountains, etc.). You definitively must be able to do this trip in approx. 3 weeks. Enjoy! Jan Lettinga Heart of Argentina Travel PS I also send you a PM about this |

I will shortly be visiting the Mendoza area and driving south down the Valle de Uco. Any recommendations as to wineries? small town markets?? nature sites to see?? simple restaurants serving local foods??? All help greatly appreciated. |

Hi, need some advice as to Whale watching in Puerto Madryn. Does anyone know whether or not it is still possible to see Whales in early January? I know the season is October to December. I am currently in Buenos Aires until Jan 3rd and am considering travelling to Puerto Madryn after this time but donīt want to make the long trip if the Whales will be gone. I know there are sea lions and penguins but the Whales I would really like to see. I would greatly appreciate any advice so if anyone has any, thanks in advance! Sandra |

Hi Sandra, Don't go for Puerto Madryn to watch wales in January, there are long gone by then. For the rest of it I always feel Madryn is overrated quit a bit, there is not much to see and the rest of the area is very arid and empty. If you have some days left why don't you go to the Atlantic Coast or come to Cordoba? In the last case we can help you organise something nice over here (just send me a private message). All the best, Jan Lettinga (from the Sierras de Cordoba) |
