I am planning a two week trip to Argentina this coming January/February. I will be at BA and in the Mendoza area. My timing is flexible and I am very interested in local music, dance, culture, etc. What Festivals might be of interest during that time period? Are the Buenos Aires Carnival and Tango Festival something to see? All help greatly appreciated. |

For Mendoza, we are always adding events on the calendar system at http://www.WelcomeToMendoza.com, and they are also in Spanish at http://www.MendozaEventos.com The format is kinda simple for now, but easy to read, much more will get added as time goes by |

Hello Richard, If you like local music, dance and other traditions don't miss the Jesus Maria Folk festival (9 - 18 January 2009) and the Cosquin National Folk festival (24 Jan - 1 Feb 2009). Both festivals are famous in the whole of Argentina and attract many, many people. Location: province of Córdoba, between Buenos Aires and Mendoza. If your serious about going there, please contact us for further help on lodging etc. All the best, Jan Lettinga Heart of Argentina Travel |

Cambalache Festival http://www.festivalcambalache.com.ar/ Dec 7 -14 El Cubo Cultural This is an awesome event that will you dancing all week long. Also, if you are going to be here I suggest checking out the sites of all the clubs and bars in the city- they usually have events going on that are not very well publicized. THe best site I've found is this one from a rental agency http://www.buenosairesstay.com - they have a great list of bars and clubs and current events too. You should also check out La Trastienda http://www.latrastienda.com/ that is an incredible venue and for sure has a lot of events in the summer months. One last recommendation - go to La Bomba de Tiempo at the Club Konex. It is a drumming improv show in the Abasto neighborhood - monday nights at 8, $10 peso cover - lots of hippies! |
