If you have two full days and one half day in Salta, where would you go and what would you do? This would be at the end of June. Thank you. |

You can take a full day excursion to Jujuy passing through Purmamarca reaching Humauaca ravine (north). Another day you can devote to visiting Cafayate and its wineries (south). The half day you should stay in the city. It's really attractive with its colonial facade. |

Salta Suggestions. I recommend staying at House of Jasmines' a beautiful estancia and b and b with horse back riding, swimming, spa and many more amenities. I would either hire a remise or a car and go to Puramarca, Tilcara, etc. |

I'm visiting Argentina in April / May 08. The plan is to fly into Buenos Aires from London, and then fly on to: Salta (4 nights), El Calafate (4 nights) and Ushaia (4 nights), then back to Buenos Aires. I don't really mind which order I do these locations in, but it seems that I can't fly to or from Salta without going through Buenos Aries. Is this correct? Is there a carrier that flies between Salta and Ushaia, or Salta and El Calafate direct? Also - I am looking to do some hiking around Salta (within 50km of the city). Ideally day hikes in good scenery (mountains?) returning to Salta in the evening. Are there hiking maps I can buy? Is this a good area for hiking? Would I need a guide? Any suggestions? Forgive the many questions, and thank you in advance! |

As far as I know the Salta airport is super small and the only flights leaving are to Bolivia and Buenos Aires. Good luck! William Indextar.com-Buenos Aires directory: organizing by word of mouth (Message edited by admin on September 19, 2007) |
