Dear Group Members, We are a Canadian couple looking for advice re most-recommended attractions in Argentina-Chile for a 2-week trip. We are 40+, focus on scenic roads and nature more than cities. Itinerary so far: April 14 - arrive BA; April 15-20 - stay in BA for professional reasons; April 29 - depart from Santiago (Chile). Questions: 1) Would like to visit Santiago-Mendoza area April ~25-28. Is it better to fly BA-Santiago and drive/bus Santiago-Mendoza-Santiago, or fly BA-Mendoza and drive/bus one-way Mendoza-Santiago? 2) Best attractions for 3-4 days in Eastern Argentina/Uruguay? Thanks, Jarek |

Jarek, welcome! If you arrive in BA and fly out from Santiago make sure you get an "open jaw" ticket which will allow you to do so. Ask your airline company or travel representative. Yes, this is the smartest way of doing it: Fly BA > Mendoza > Bus to Santiago > Depart from Chile. Yoru other inquiry... You can try 3 or 4 nights in Puerto Madryn/Peninsula Valdes (Chubut) spending these days in this vast wild animal reservoir. Completely worth it. There are not as many scenic roads/landscapes on eastern Argentina as there are on the andean/west region of Patagonia or even the northwestern states. An alternative to this would be to fly north to Misiones and check out that area. Many interesting things. |
