Women
Argentina is a traditional, male-dominated society, and women continue to occupy
a somewhat secondary position in all aspects, including business. Despite this,
argentine women are generally considered to have more freedom and a greater
opportunity than women in many other Latin American societies. Generally restricted
to a position in the home, argentine women nevertheless tend to be well-educated.
In the last decade or so, this has been changing gradually with more women are
entering the workforce, albeit often in relatively low level positions. Argentina
has one of the biggest ratios of women in College compare to other nations and
this fact alone bodes well for obtaining equality in all areas of Argentina's
life.
They are also becoming more responsible for monetary contributions to the family
budget. Foreign businesswomen should experience few difficulties in Argentina,
although they may face some rather frank questioning regarding their personal
situation, as well as public comments (although these are less aggressive here
than elsewhere).
