My wife and I will be flying into BA August of 2008 and will be spending 2 weeks in country...one week with another couple who have been four or five times before. The week we spend with them will be primarilly spent in cities...museums, churches, restaurants. The week before that my wife and I would like to do some hiking. August looks prohibitively cold in Patagonia. But what about the lakes region? Will we be able to hike, either overnight or two or three day hikes. My books are vague, usually talking about the optimum time of year to hike. We're locked in on the dates. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share. Oh yes, what are your thoughts on guides/tours/going it alone? Also, bring our own gear or rent down there. Thanks again. Bob |
