My boyfriend and I are coming to Buenos Aires this December, but will be staying in either Mar del Plata or Villa Gissel. We're going to try to catch an opera in the city before we bus out to the beaches, but the other thing we want to do is see some mountains. We'd be up for hiking, scenic tours, trains, or whatever else would allow us to soak up the scenery--but we're only going to be in country for 7 or 8 days. Anyway, the question is: where should we go to see mountains that wouldn't take three days of travel from BA or Mar del Plata? Is it possible? Thanks! |

Hello Jennie and welcome! Mountains are on the west part of the country, specifically on the Andes ridge. You can make a quick trip to Mendoza where you will be able to hike, horse-ride, trek and travel to the high mountains. A one full day tour to the 'Cristo Redentor' in Mendoza (about 200 km from the city) will cover most of what you want. Still, 7 nights for a combined trip to BA, to a beach and to Mendoza seems to be too little time... |
