Does anyone know of any decent places to stay in Colonia Carlos Pelligini that have AC but are still affordable? I have located 3 places via the web (Hosteleria Nande Reta, Aquape Lodge & Irupe Lodge) but they all want from $110 to $160 (USD) per person per night (we are a family of 4!) so for two nights that is really too expensive! Is this in Corrientes? This doesn't sound realistic. Are you completely sure the estimates are in us currency? Why don't you try http://www.mimercedes.com.ar/posadaiberapora/. Yes, two of them specified $160 USD and the other quoted 330 pesos per person per day. Their websites don't give rates..you must email them a request for that information. Just curious...do you know if businesses charge more if they know you are coming from out of Argentina (US, Canada for example)? Could that explain it? |

I think there has been a 2 scheme pricing in Argentina for some time now, both in the formal economy (like with airlines) and with smaller mom and pop shops. I have no personal opinion on this... but I wouldn't want to pay that much. Perhaps, a good work around would be to contact them through a local travel agent. Then, you will know the truth. Having said this there are some expensive places locally like the lodge with views to the glaciers (Calafate) that charge usd $1,000 a night. |
