Roderick, if you're looking for something like a Wild Oats or Whole Foods you won't find anything. However, there are lots of stores that carry organic things - depends upon what you're looking for. There is an organic vegetable delivery service called Taller Organico that is about to start deliveries to the city. Also in Belgrano in Barrio Chino (Chinatown), there is a place called Casa China. It's a small store but they sell quite a few organic beans, rices, grains, etc. Jumbo in Las Canitas has an organic section as well, as well as "pollo de campo" which while not necessarily organic are more like a free range chicken. What are you looking for specifically. | ||

And then there are some smaller mom and pops shops too. At the corner of Santa Fe and Carlos Pellegrini -off Santa Fe- there is a 'mercado naturista' and another one in Viamonte st. between Esmeralda st. and Maipu st. There were more vegetarian restaurants (related but different) in my time than now, but I think the 'organic' trend is picking up some steam... In my last trip I was disappointed in that I couldn't find any black beans at the grocery. Too many cows down there... | ||

Roberto, you need to check out the casa china next time, they've got bagged beans, bulk beans, organic (all black), as well as adzuki beans, and lots of other types. For vegetarian/organic restaurant there is BIO. Restaurant - Almacén Orgánico. Humbodlt 2199 (esquina Guatemala), Palermo, Tel. 4774-3880 There's another natural restuarant but I can't think of the name offhand, if I remember it I will post it. They have one in Saavadedra and just opened in Lomas de San Isidro as well. | ||
