Hello, if you are an American or Australian (does not apply to UK residents or New Zealand) you need a tourist visa and its necessary prior to entering Brazil. It costs about $400 or so pesos. If you are talking about Iguazu Falls I know some people have gone to Brazil w/o the visa this is the exception and you are taking a chance of not being let in.\ Good luck, Mrs. P | ||

Wow! That would be almost $500 USA dollars for our family of 4! Not surea few hours to the Brazilian side ofthe fallsis worth that amount. :0( Thanks for the info. | ||

My husband visited Iguazu Falls in September and wow it is spectaculor!!!!!!!!! I highly recommend it....dont know the ages of your children but I think they would enjoy it as much as you and your husband. The park is very user friendly and could be done in one long day if not crowded or 2 easy days. Also, the anticipation of seeing jungle wildlife is fun too. We spoke with 2 different groups of people who visited both sides and they confirmed that the argentian side is the most scenic which reaffirmed our decision not to get the visa to enter Brazil. Funny I went from BA over to Vítoria for the weekend and only had to pay a transit tax. This was about $18usd. Is this because I already hold a Brasil Visa? -J | ||

HI Jay: Yes, if you already have a visa for Brazil it unneccesary to pay the $400 AR I was talking about it b/c thats the charge for getting a VISA to Brazil if somebody does not already have it. BEst, mrs. P | ||

No I went over Vitoria to drive to some friends in Guarapari. When I left the US I knew I would visit Brazil and had to apply for a Visa 60 days in advance. If you are an American you can pay $400 AR and just cross the border the same day? | ||

I am Canadian and we also have to pay the 100$ to get in. When I took the collectivo that goes to Brazil, I got off at the Argentine border to declare I was leaving the country, but didn't get off at the Brazillian customs, because the bus driver told me I didn't have to if I was only spending the day there... I definitly recommend seeing the Brazillian side, as it offers a different view of the falls then the Argentine side... I would say it's 2 different experiences. Good luck. | ||

Ah yeah, I forgot to add, this was less then a month ago... I suggest that u try to get in as I did, and worst case scenario, if u need to pay, just grab the bus that goes back to Argentina... it would only cost u 30 min or so. | ||

As far as I know, you have to pay for the Visa ahead of time. I know of somebody who went to the airport in Buenos Aires and they would not let him (an American)board the flight to Rio w/o the visa. However, as Yassine noted there are exceptions and perhaps with a bus border crossing its different then with dealing at the airport. | ||

I traveled to Iguazu Falls last year with family. We stayed at a hotel and inquired of a waiter how we could travel to the Brazilian side...he arranged a trip through the hotel wherein we took a remis to the border, were dropped off and crossed to a Brazilian remis that took us to the falls, picked us up in 4 hours and returned us to the border where we reversed the process. | ||

We are US citizens traveling from Buenos Aires to Uruguay. Will we have to pay an entry fee and do we need a visa for uruguay? If anyone knows, please advise. thanks |
